Executive Team

Kurtis Goos, Chief executive officer

Kurt has more than 28 years of experience in the medical device industry and President level experience with both public and private medical device companies. Prior to TheraTec, he was with Ametek, Inc, a leading global manufacturer of electronic instruments and electromechanical devices with annual sales of $4.0 billion, where he led the medical businesses group for the company. Prior to Ametek, he was with Carestream Health, a global provider of medical imaging systems and healthcare information technology solutions, where he was Worldwide General Manager of Digital Output Solutions.   He also has held a number of general management, M&A, marketing and business development positions with several leading medical device manufacturers, including St. Jude Medical, Medtronic and LivaNova.

Mr. Goos holds a Bachelor's degree in Marketing and Business Management from Minnesota State University and a Master's degree in Business Administration from the University of St. Thomas.

Tom Waddell, Founder & chief technical officer

Tom has had a successful career in the medical device industry as both an entrepreneur and project manager for medical device companies.  He is a partner and founder of Project Leadership Services (1998 – present) - now Waddell Group, a company that specializes in leading difficult projects and getting them back on track. Mr. Waddell is an electrical engineer with expertise in technical project management, small company executive management, product development, and process re-engineering.

tony Hyk, Chief Operating Officer

Tony Hyk is a commercial operations and strategy leader with over 20 years of financial, operational and strategic experience. Prior to TheraTec, he was with ACIST Medical Systems, Inc, a pioneering interventional and diagnostic technology company with a portfolio of advanced products and global revenue of $200M, where he led global commercial operations and strategy. Before ACIST, he held management positions in Finance and Commercial Operations in a variety of industries including Cardiac Rhythm Management (LivaNova), beverage dispensing manufacturing (Cornelius), pharmaceuticals (Upsher-Smith) and retail (Target Corporation).

Tony holds a Bachelor's degree in Accounting from Saint John’s University and a Master's degree in Business Administration from the Carlson School of Management.

ADAM RONDEAU, CHIEF INFORMATION AND COMPLIANCE OFFICER

Adam is a development and IT leader with over 20 years of healthcare IT, network infrastructure, product development, and privacy and security experience. Prior to TheraTec, Adam worked at ACIST Medical Systems, where he led the Hospital Information Systems division. At ACIST, Adam helped to develop ACIST's global informatics platform (ACIST Connect) from concept to commercialization, as well as helped ACIST develop and deploy their global Privacy and Security policies to adhere to HIPAA / GDPR privacy and security requirements. Adam also helped develop and held the HIPAA, Privacy and Security Officer roll for ACIST. Before ACIST, Adam held multiple management and technical leadership positions in the medical device industry including working for Radiometer, ProVation Medical, the Hartford, and Rondeau Rescue.

Adam is an industry certified Systems Engineer and Network Architect.

Dr. Richard (RT) Donahue, Executive VP of Healthcare Economics & Medical Affairs

Richard has over 30 years of experience where he most recently held executive leadership roles in healthcare economics with United Health Group and Optum. He is widely recognized as an industry expert in healthcare trends and analytics and has consulted for may provider and payor organizations on a national and global level. He was the founding Director of ChiroCare and was also an ACA delegate. Richard has also had twenty five years in private practice in the Twin Cities market.

Thomas Brust

Tom has over 25 years of experience, has been president and CEO of four successful medical devices companies, Micropure Medical, Browne Medical, Micronet Medical, and Enova Medical

Mr. Brust holds a BA in Philosophy from St. Olaf College and an MBA from the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, MN.

He also serves on the Board of Directors of the Fairview Foundation and JonnyPops, and have been a board member or advisor for Ascent Capital, LogicPD, Par Systems, and Cardia.


Dr. Scott Nelson, PHD

Scott is an experienced strategic and operational leader with particular focus on Internet of Things (IoT) and Digital Health. He enjoys working with cross-functional teams pursuing rapid growth through innovation and technology application.  

Dr. Nelson received his Ph.D. in Applied and Engineering Physics from Cornell University in Ithaca, NY; has a doctoral minor in Business Administration from the Samuel Johnson School of Management at Cornell University, and received his B.A. in physics and mathematics from St. Olaf College in Northfield, MN.

Medical Advisory Board

Troy Berg, MD

Dr. Troy Berg is a co-founder and CEO of Chippewa Valley Orthopedics and has provided orthopedic expertise to the Western Wisconsin area since 1998. He is an Orthopedic Surgeon and a Sports Medicine Specialist with a special interest in knee and shoulder surgery. Dr. Berg is a team physician for the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Blugolds.

Dr. Berg is certified with the American Board of Orthopedic Surgeons and is a member of the American Medical Association. He completed a year-long fellowship in Arthroscopy & Sports Medicine in 2004. Dr. Berg completed his orthopedic residency at the University of Minnesota Hospitals and Clinics in Minneapolis, MN.


Ralph Bovard, MD

Dr. Bovard is the Program Director for the HealthPartners Occupational & Environmental Medicine Residency.  He has 34 years of clinical practice experience in occupational, non-operative orthopedics and sports medicine.  He is board certified in General Preventive Medicine and Occupational Medicine. He is an advocate for fitness, physical activity, and the "industrial athlete" model.  He is a fellow of ACOEM, ACPM, and ACSM.  He served as an ACSM board of directors-medical trustee 2005-8, was a member of the initial Exercise Is Medicine task force in 2007. He has been a faculty member for the ACSM International Team Physician Course & was a consultant for the US Anti-Doping Agency TUE committee for ten years.  He has been an Everest expedition physician, a missionary doctor in Papua New Guinea, a base physician in Antarctica, a set doctor on the movies Cliffhanger and The River Wild, and a physician for US alpine skiing and figure skating teams.


Marc Tompkins, MD

Dr. Tompkins is an orthopedic sports medicine surgeon and Associate Professor in the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at the University of Minnesota and also serves as fellowship faculty for the Orthopedic Sports Medicine Fellowship at TRIA Orthopedic Center. Dr. Tompkins is an active member of many national and international orthopedic organizations, a frequent reviewer for orthopedic journals, and has been involved in on field sports medicine coverage at all levels of sports. Clinical and research interests for Dr. Tompkins include the treatment and rehabilitation of sports medicine injuries in all areas of the body with his practice focused on complex reconstructive and joint preservation surgery in the knee and shoulder. He is widely published in these areas in the orthopedic sports medicine literature.


Geoff Gorres, MD

Dr. Gorres is currently practicing Emergency Medicine.  He attended University of Minnesota Medical School, and did his residency at US Naval Hospital Pensacola.  While there he served as chief resident, and later as faculty after an operational tour in the Navy.  He has licensed US patents for successful sporting and military products, as well as issued patents related to early detection of hospital acquired infections.  He has practiced in a myriad of settings, provided the full spectrum of medical care, and is dedicated to patient-centered medicine.  He is increasingly focused on telemedicine, streamlining the doctor-patient interaction, and decreasing overhead. 


Dr. Christian Kollar

Dr. Kollar is CEO of New Brighton Chiropractic in Shoreview, MN. He received his Doctorate of Chiropractic and graduated Cum Laude from Parker College of Chiropractic in Dallas, Texas. Dr. Kollar served as the president of the Minnesota Chiropractic Association from 2012-2014 and was awarded the 2014 Minnesota Chiropractic Association Chiropractor of the year. He is a member of the Minnesota Chiropractic Association and serves as the Vice Chair of the Insurance and Reimbursement Committee.


Scott Kulstad, MBA, M.Ed., ATC

Scott serves as the Service Line Executive for Musculoskeletal Services at Fairview Health Services, a position he’s held since 2012.  He’s served Fairview in a variety of roles most recently since 2003. His professional experience also includes work as a Senior Consultant at Deloitte Consulting.

In addition to his work at Fairview, Scott is an Executive Fellow at the Opus College of Business, University of St. Thomas where he teaches in the Health Care MBA program.

Scott has bachelor’s degrees in kinesiology and public health from the University of Minnesota. He holds a master’s degree in education also from the University of Minnesota and in 2006, Scott completed his MBA at the University of St. Thomas.


Darrin Schober, PT, MSPT

Darrin is the Founder and CEO of Optimum Therapies, which specializes in osteopathic manual therapy. He received his education from Grand Valley State University, Allendale MI. Optimum provides individualized, compassionate care to his patients that is aimed at treating the cause of movement problems, providing lower risk and cost associated with work and non-work-related injuries and prevention programs.
